Reign of Assassins - John Woo - (2010)

Date watched: 6/17/11
Film: Reign of Assassins
Director: John Woo

First of all, I apologize. For the all the... er, well, one person reading this, I have been occupado with working on getting my house ready to sell. So, honestly, there has been no delay on watching a new film daily.  I watched Fox the first day, Super 8 the next and this yesterday.

Man, this again took me back.  This is total 80's-Hong Kong Woo.  However, instead of a pair of guns, you get swords.  Seriously, if you watched The Killer and Hard Boiled you will be very at home with this film.

There are the crossed loyalties, the matter of honor vs. duty, and the dessicated corpse being used as currency.  Well, that last bit may be unique to this film.

I really, REALLY wish they had cast Chow Yun-fat as the male lead in this.  He was SO who the role was intended for.  Michelle Yeoh was awesome, as expected.  But really, this was Hard Boiled with swords... and if you think that is a criticism, you need to watch more John Woo...

Reminded me of:
